DURHAM High Sheriff Harry Vane will turn on the Christmas tree lights at the Bowes Museum on Friday, November 30.
As well as his ceremonial role, he is also president of the Friends of Bowes Museum, who have provided the historic complex with a Christmas tree for many years.
There will also be a seasonal raffle and the town crier will be on hand to help proceedings along with good cheer.
Following their success at last year’s event, community choir No Added Sugar will entertain with a selection of carols and will be joined this year by the sounds of the Northumbrian pipes.
The event takes place between 5pm and 7pm, with the lights switch-on at 6pm. Admission is free and the museum shop and cafe annexe will be open.
