POLICE have tonight charged a man with the robbery of a North-East building society.
The raid at the Darlington Building Society, took place on the High Street, Stockton, at about 4.30pm yesterday.
The armed man is believed to have threatened staff with a knife, before escaping with an undisclosed sum of money.
Police last night arrested two men in connection with the robbery.
A 40-year-old man from Stockton has tonight been charged with robbery and possession of an offensive weapon and is due before Teesside Magistrates’ Court tomorrow morning.
A 38-year-old man, also from Stockton, has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
