Darlington great-grandmother died of stab wounds

AN inquest has been opened into the death of a 61-year-old great-grandmother who was stabbed in her own home.

Pamela Glen, also known as Pamela Turner, died on October 20 after an incident an address in the Spring Hill area of Darlington.

Ms Glen, an unemployed mother of two, was taken to The James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough, but died hours later.

A post-mortem examination revealed she had died of stab wounds.

Joseph William Turner, 61, of Sanderson Street, Darlington, appeared in court last month charged with murder.

He was remanded in custody and will appear at Teesside Crown Court on January 8.

Police have not revealed what the relationship was between Ms Glen and Mr Turner.

Coroner Andrew Tweddle yesterday opened and adjourned an inquest into Ms Glen’s death at Crook Civic Centre, County Durham.

Following her death, Ms Glen’s family issued a statement paying tribute to her.

They said: “She was a much loved and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be sadly missed.”
