LEYBURN Fire Station has taken delivery of a new fire engine and it was soon in action.
Area service manager Jez Rushworth, whose responsibility includes Leyburn, called in to see the new appliance.
He said: “The new pump is part of an ongoing replacement of vehicles throughout North Yorkshire. The crews at Leyburn are doing a fine job.”
The Volvo fire engine, which cost about £140,000 new, was not idle for long.
Watch manager Dave Wibberly said: “It’s nice to have a new pump, though it was soon busy and has been extensively used since we got it.”
Å The recent open evening and recruitment drive has seen several people show an interest in becoming a firefighter. North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue has vacancies throughout the county including at Leyburn.
