TVS STOLEN: Fifteen TVs have been stolen from a care home in Houghton-le-Spring. Anyone with information is asked to call the police on 101.

SCAM TARGETS ELDERLY: Police are warning members of the public about a scam targeting elderly people across Cleveland.

The scam involves a group of men carrying out minor roofing or guttering repairs and demanding extremely high prices for the work. In some cases the men have accompanied their victims to the bank to withdraw cash.

Police would like to make the public aware of this scam and would also like to ask anyone with information to come forward by calling the non-emergency 101 number or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Two men aged 23 and 43 from the Hartlepool area have been arrested on suspicion of theft and a 39-year-old man, also from the Hartlepool area, was arrested on suspicion of theft and fraud by false representation. All arrests were in connection with an incident in the Billingham area and they have been bailed pending further enquiries.

After delays because of bad weather, Prince Charles is finally due in Teesdale as hundreds of school children and residents wait to welcome the future king to the region.

CYCLIST HURT: A 38-year-old cyclist has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a collision on the A67, near Middleton St George, near Darlington. The crash happened just before 6am and police believe it may have been a hit-and-run.

HARTLEPOOL HOUSE FIRE: Police are appealing for information after an incident at a house on Lansdowne Road in Hartlepool, which officers are treating as arson with intent to endanger life.

At around 3am on Saturday October 20, the house fire alarm sounded, which woke a man and woman who were in the property. After going downstairs, they found that the front door of the premises was on fire.

Cleveland Fire Brigade attended and extinguished the blaze and police were called upon to investigate as it appeared suspicious.

Detectives are now appealing for members of the public to come forward who believe they may have seen anything of interest around the time of the fire.

The visit of Prince Charles to Teesdale has been delayed due to weather. His helicopter will now attempt at Durham Tees Valley Airport at 11.30am before heading to meet children at Middleton In Teesdale Primary School.
