The CometThe Comet

THE recent history of the Comet at Hurworth Place, just south of Darlington, has been somewhat chequered.

1:33pm Fri 21 Dec 07
THE furore over Middlesbrough's so-called shame as the worst place to live in Britain was partially played out in an Italian café/restaurant called Sassari in the town's Linthorpe Road.

I'M SURE someone will correct me if I've got this wrong but I think Ochis in Darlington is the area's only Caribbean restaurant.

IF you don't live near the large village of West Auckland you may only have heard of the exploits of its football team in winning what was arguably the first world cup.

WHEN I was little I had a spoon and pusher - a sort of cutlery aid that assisted the transition from feeding with one's fingers to a proper knife and fork. Mine, I recall from my Enid Bylton 1950s' childhood, were silver (EPNS, I am subsequently informed). Today they'd probably be plastic - but still a useful right of passage into the grown-up world of knowing how to hold one's cutlery.
