A comical tale is best for summer

A SUMMER setting for Twelfth Night has been found at Kiplin Hall, near Scorton, for a production by the Lord Chamberlain’s Men.

Shakespeare’s comedy, originally commissioned by Queen Elizabeth I to celebrate the Twelfth Night, abounds in comical crossdressing, mistaken identity and deserved comeuppance. The cast, as the name of the company suggests, is all-male, as in Shakespeare’s time.

Mark Puddle, founder and creative director, said: “There are so many memorable characters and famously hilarious scenes, so it should make a fantastic summer evening.”

Twelfth Night will be performed beside the lake at Kiplin Hall next Friday. Gates open for picnics at 6.30pm. The play starts at 7.30pm.

Audiences should take their own seats.

Last year, the company staged a successful production of Much Ado About Nothing.

For more information and to book, tel 01748-818178, email info@kiplinhall.co.uk or visit kiplinhall.co.uk. Tickets cost £14, concessions £12, children £8.

Kiplin Hall is on the B6271 between Scorton and Northallerton, about six miles east of the A1 just south of Scotch Corner.
