Family firm’s new showroom offers latest in kitchens
A FAMILY-RUN business has invested
£200,000 in a new showroom.
Court Homemakers has spent
two months redesigning and refurbishing
its kitchen, bathroom
and bedroom showroom in Portrack
Lane, Stockton.
Twenty new kitchen displays
have been added to the 3,500sq ft
showroom, which now features
42 kitchens, 20 bathrooms and
10 bedrooms.
Ian Goodwillie, director said:
"We showcase the very latest in
design, style and technology in
order to maintain our position as
the UK's largest independent retailer
of fitted kitchens manufactured
under one roof."
And he said the firm had already
seen a rise in customers
and near record sales.
"People are quick to talk down
the economy and instil a sense of
gloom and crisis, but we have always
bucked trends," he said.
"People are being more cautious,
no doubt, but our recent
performance shows that householders
in the North-East are still
confident about investing in improvements
that will, almost certainly,
pay back handsomely in
improving the quality of living
and resale value."
The showroom opening included
a demonstration by
Siemens latest self-cleaning
ovens and the revolutionary induction
hob, which, through a
magnetic field rather than heat,
can boil a saucepan of water in
under two minutes with a sheet
of paper placed between the pan
and the surface of the hob.
The heat generated comes
from within the pan, cutting the
cost of heating the hob and leaving
the surface safe to touch
within seconds.
Mr Goodwillie and his wife,
Ann, who is managing director,
founded the business 19 years
ago in Brunswick Street, Stockton.
The firm moved to Portrack
Lane 12 years ago and the 30 staff
include their sons, Stuart, an installer,
and Frazer, a salesman.
The company offers a total service,
from the design of kitchens,
bathroom and bedrooms, to
manufacture, delivery and installation.
Mr Goodwillie said: "Each of
our installations is unique and
we see the job through to completion.
That may mean moving
radiators, doors and walls if necessary."
