AWARD-WINNING farmer Robert Neill will host an Alltech and Keenan meeting at Upper Nisbet Farm, Jedburgh, on Wednesday, March 21.

Last year’s Farmers Weekly Farmer of the Year, he has 1,000 head of beef cattle and has fine-tuned all aspects of his system to achieve impressive levels of efficiency and business performance.

He began using InTouch a year ago to optimise the nutritional programme for his herd, and visitors will see his beef finishing system and hear practical advice on Smart Feeding from technical experts from Alltech and Keenan.

Topics will include mycotoxin risk in silage, maximising rumen efficiency, formulating and delivering optimum diets, and monitoring and adapting intakes.

Bob Kendal, ruminant manager for the North at Alltech, said: “While individual farmers have very little control over the trends in market prices, they do have total control over what happens within their own farm gate and improving the efficiency and performance of their business, can help hedge against a volatile market.”

Refreshments will be served from 11am and farmers do not need to register. See Alltech.com/uk/events for more details.
