JONATHAN Moorhouse has been elected the 2018 president of the Hereford Breed Society.

The owner of Cato Herefords, he is an active member and past chairman of the South Western Hereford Association and has represented the region on the Council for the past six years.

Mr Moorhouse has judged many shows including the Great Yorkshire Show in 2012 which, as a native Yorkshireman, gave him immense pleasure.

However, his greatest honour to date in terms of judging was the 2013 National Poll Show held in Moreton-in-Marsh.

He and his wife Rosemary, began breeding Herefords in the mid 1990’s and in 2016 Cato Herefords was judged best herd in the South West.

Mr Moorhouse has a strong desire to further develop the world famous Hereford Brand and will be available to discuss ideas with members at events up and down the UK.

The breed’s vice-president for 2018 is Northern Ireland breeder, Des Kelly of Mullin Herefords. He farms in County Tyrone with his wife, Colette.
