A CROWD saw more than 400 lots sold at a summer sale held by Darlington Auction Mart.

The auction of tractors, implements and machinery proved a great success and was well supported, with a 91 per cent clearance rate to more than 100 buyers.

Buyers from Cumbria across to the East coast and Newcastle down to the Vale of York swapped wet weather gear for sunscreen as a glorious day prevailed.

The top-priced lot was an immaculate 51 Plate JCB 520 with 3,000 hours on the clock, which attracted huge pre-sale interest and sold way beyond expectation for £13,700.

A very tidy Ford 4610 loader tractor sold well for £5,500, while a clean and tidy New Holland conventional baler impressed when it sold for £3,100.

As usual the varied sale saw great demand for fencing and building requisites.

The autumn sale is on October 7.
