ROARING tractor engines could be heard across the Dales over the weekend as an annual rally attracted vintage machines to the county and raised more than £1,000 for charity.

The eleventh annual vintage tractor run started at Whashon Spring Farm north of Richmond and wound its way to Cumbria along a 170-mile, three day route.

Around 15 tractors started the rally, some dating back to 1959, and only genuine vintage vehicles without cabs were allowed to take part.

This year's chosen charity was the Great North Air Ambulance and £1,100 was raised including donations from the Easter Vintage Tractor Run and the Ploughing Match held earlier in the year.
