THE Yorkshire Dales Rivers Trust has appointed its first director.
Charles Forman, who is currently responsible for coordinating Environment Agency activity in the Yorkshire Dales river catchments, will start work with the Trust at the beginning of June.
He comes from a Lincolnshire farming family and first moved to Yorkshire as a student. He said: "I have worked with the trust for a number of years and have always been hugely impressed by its work. This is an exciting time to be joining the team as there are some great projects in hand that will make a real difference for our rivers and for those who enjoy them. I am really looking forward to getting started in my new job."
Andrew Brown, chairman, said: "The creation of post of trust director marks a significant new stage in our development. I am confident that Charles will play a key role in helping us take forward an increasingly challenging and rewarding range of activities focused on enhancing water quality and the river environment."
Mr Forman enjoys fell walking and cycling, sings with the Yorkshire Bach choir, and is a keen organic gardener.
