A LIMOUSIN cross steer called "Buggerluggs" won the cattle championship at the 124th Glendale Show in Northumberland on Bank Holiday Monday.

Owned by Jonathan Craggs of Glower O'er Him, Sedgefield, he made the journey to Wooler to take part in the show which attracted 12,000 visitors.

The reserve cattle champion was a pure Limousin heifer from James Marks of Gillyflatts Farm, Bishopton, near Stockton.

There was a record entry across 105 classes of cattle and sheep which this year also featured rare and minority sheep classes.

Lilburn Estate, who host the event, won three championships in the sheep and cattle sections and went on to take the champion of champions title with a Mule ewe lamb shown by shepherd Arthur Ramage.

The overall reserve sheep champion went to WD Allen of Humbleheugh, Alnwick, with a Hill type Cheviot Ewe.
