A POPULAR show secretary has stepped down eight years after taking on the role as a favour.
Judith Carlisle, secretary to the Wensleydale Agricultural Show, decided to retire due to personal and work commitments.
The show has grown so much that three secretaries now work all year round putting together all the separate strands necessary for it to run smoothly.
Mrs Carlisle said: "My mum asked me do it for a year as favour and I here I am still doing it eight shows later. I love the work and am sorry to be leaving."
At the show's annual meeting in the Bolton Arms, Leyburn, Mrs Carlisle was presented with a gift on behalf of the show committee.
Bob Dixon, chairman, said: "We are all sorry to see Judith leave; she will be a hard act to follow."
Applications are invited for a new secretary to join the team. The duties are varied but include organising trade stands and advertising. Full details from Sara North on 01969 623750; email sara@wensleydaleshow.org.uk.
