BUTSFIELD

Our meeting this week was a junior takeover and a small business meeting. Our next meeting is our annual Christmas meal and prize-giving, on December 5, at 7pm at the Brown Horse, in Tow Law. CATTERICK 

Last week’s meeting was an interesting talk and quiz by Swale Vets. Thank you to Lesley and Derek for coming. Well done to Emma, Becky and Pete for coming first. On Wednesday, members attended a talk by the club’s chosen charity this year, which is the Intensive Care Unit at James Cook hospital. Next week’s meeting on Tuesday is an interclub night, which is to be held at The Green Dragon, High Row, Exelby, Bedale DL8 2HA, at 7.30pm. Take some money for entry to the pool, darts or dominoes, including supper. Other clubs are invited to join us – the more the merrier.

COUNTY DURHAM 

Tomorrow, we are hosting a YFC winter coffee morning at Hett Village Hall from 10.30am-1.30pm. Entry is free so come along and do some shopping at the stalls or enjoy a coffee with friends. There will be craft demonstrations from 11am and also raffle tickets on sale. The County Durham AGM will be held today at Durham Rugby Club Green Lane Durham City, when Poul Christensen, NFYFC president, will be our guest speaker. County ball tickets are now on sale for £26 (after December 1, £30) at The George, in Piercebridge, for 16 years and over. Parental consent forms are needed for those aged 16 years to 18 years, which can be downloaded from our website at cdfyfc.co.uk or see your YFC club. Send cheques made payable to CDFYFC with a stamped addressed envelope to the YFC Office, The Hayloft Hazlett House Farm, Waterhouses, Durham DH7 9HD. ELWICK

This week’s meeting was a visit to Rock Antics where members went rock-climbing. This was enjoyed by all. Next week’s meeting is a visit to Wear Referrals at Bradbury. Meet there at 7pm. GREAT SMEATON

This week’s meeting is cheese-tasting at Great Smeaton Village Hall; meet there at 7.30pm. Members are to pay £1 towards the cheese. Next week’s meeting is to be confirmed. NORTHALLERTON 

Last week’s meeting was Northallerton’s annual domino drive, which raised £219.30 for the MRI scanner at the Friarage. Next week’s meeting is Christmas tree decorating meet at Applegarth at 7.15pm.

REETH

Last week’s meeting was a “life as a vet” talk from Will Allman from Yoredale Vets. Our next meeting is an out visit to Mainsgill Farm. Could the younger members contact older members if they require a lift, otherwise meet at Mainsgill at 7.30pm. Take any outstanding membership forms, money or photos, so that Hollie can send them off.

SEDGEFIELD

This week’s meeting was preparation for the Sedgefield Snow Parade on November 29. Members made wooden snowmen and decorations, which will go on sale at the parade – all proceeds go to Macmillan Cancer. Thanks to the Turnbull family for hosting. Trophies from the AGM were handed out. Congratulations to Jack Craggs for winning best male, Kizzy Turnbull for best female and Molly McDermott for best junior. Next week’s meeting is a talk by vet Jenny Walton to be held at Hardwick Hall at 7.30pm. Jenny is going to talk about pet blood donation. For details, call Luke on 07872 581402.

STAINDROP

This week’s meeting was on Tuesday and it was ice skating at Billingham. Next week’s meeting is on Monday and is a talk from the police at Winston Village Hall at 7.30pm.

STOKESLEY

This week’s meeting was a mock auction held at Whitegate Farm, Newton-under-Roseberry, with permission from HS Petch & Sons. Thank you to Martin for the excellent refreshments. Thank you also to Simon Manthorpe from Northallerton auctions for a first class meeting Next week’s meeting is a farm tour by permission of the Hurren family at Borough Green Farm, Easby, at 7.30pm. The next round of the past versus present competition will be held on December 7.
