A dales agricultural show has been given a further financial sponsorship deal and a new trophy.
With many customers in the region Peter Collins of Lowes Financial Management of Newcastle became interested in The Wensleydale Show through former chairman David Ford. For the last two years he has attended the gathering held every August near Leyburn and has sponsored the main ring.
This year in addition to his normal sponsorship Mr Collins has purchased a shiny new trophy, which will be awarded to the supreme champion cattle. This will be a contest between champion beef and champion dairy and never been awarded in the 123 years of the show.
Mr Collins said: “ I love coming to the show and last year when it was the 100th we had a tent where we met so many nice people.
“This year we are to sponsor the supreme cattle champion; when I was in London and I saw this trophy and thought it would be ideal, it was a bargain so I bought it.”
At their show day marquee they will have several experts on hand to give free advise on the recent changes to government pension regulations.
Bob Dixon is the chairman of Wensleydale Agricultural Show. He said: “ We are very grateful to Peter Collins for his continued support.
“We look forward to seeing him at the show for the first presentation of the supreme cattle champion.”
