EARTHMILL, the Wetherby-based wind turbine business, has become one of only four UK companies to receive accreditation from the National Farmers Union's (NFU’s) renewable energy division to install wind turbines.

The accreditation as a Farm Energy Service approved supplier recognises Earthmill’s experience, professionalism and high-tech service, from planning to turbine installation and maintenance.

In order to achieve accreditation, the company had to go through the NFU’s rigorous due diligence process which included being audited by an independent consultant on the company’s financial standing, its renewables industry track record, interviews with current clients, as well as quality assurance and health and safety.

Steve Milner, managing director, said: "More and more farms are using wind turbines as a means of supplementing their income and diversifying their enterprise.

"The farming community is at the heart of our business and to receive recognition of the service we provide to them from their trade association is hugely rewarding.

"It demonstrates to farmers that we are a reputable company, committed to working with them to the very highest of standards and is great recognition of our entire team’s hard work and fantastic customer service."

The NFU approved supplier status indicates that farmers can be assured of a high quality service from a team who are experts in their field.

Earthmill, which has grown from a one-man operation that started in Mr Milner’s garage in 2009, employs 34 people at its head office in Wetherby. It has installed more than 200 small scale turbines during the last six years.
