A FARM supply company holds an open day on Thursday (11) to celebrate its 10th anniversary.

Pearsons Farm Supplies will hold the event at its Stainton House Farm headquarters in West Marton, near Skipton, from 4pm to 10pm.

The guest speaker will be North Wales hill farmer, Gareth Wyn Jones, star of BBC TV's "The Hill Farm" and "The Farmer and the Food Chain."

He will focus on the Spring snow disaster of 2013 and his new show, in which he investigates why people should buy local food, the power of supermarkets and food education.

The event – which is open to existing and potential new customers – will also feature the company's extensive product ranges, feature supplier trade stands, refreshments in the form of a free hog roast and bar, along with a farming quiz with prizes.

Chris Pearson, managing director, launched Pearsons Farm Supplies on the family farm in 2005 after 10 years in the animal health sector.

The company has since grown to become one of the largest independent agricultural merchants in the north, operating across Yorkshire and Lancashire, and into Cumbria and North Wales.

Mr Pearson's wife, Rachel, is fully involved in the business, supported by a strong head office team, with an additional three people working from the company’s branch office in Angelsey.

It also has a strong presence at its local auction marts with shops at Skipton, Gisburn, Bentham, Otley and St Asaph marts, where it also sponsors livestock shows.

Mr Pearson said: "Our product ranges have expanded phenomenally over the years and are now increasingly complemented by our ever-evolving premium range of own-label products.

"We also continue to develop our own vitamin and mineral supplements, which are now used and recommended by some of the most renowned stockmen throughout the country.

"We have come far over the past decade and much of this can be put down to our experienced team, who will all go that extra mile to help our customers. We are staging the open day to mark our success – and want our customers, new and old, to come along and help us celebrate."
