Young Farmers' Club reports for Catterick, Great Smeaton, Northallerton, Reeth, Sedgefield, Staindrop, Stockton, Stokesley and Wensleydale
CATTERICK
Thanks to Amanda Thomas for running last week’s taxing pub quiz. It was thoroughly enjoyed by members. Also thanks to Mike for hosting the meeting at the Greyhound. There is a committee meeting on Monday at the Greyhound at 8pm. Next week’s meeting is horse riding at Hollies Riding School, DL10 4SN, at 7.30pm.
GREAT SMEATON. – This week’s meeting is the annual meeting in the village hall. Members should wear smart dress and arrive at 7.30pm. Anyone unable to attend should send their apologies. Yorkshire Young Farmers hold their Spring Dance on Thursday at Club Amadeus. Tickets cost £8 on the door. There will be no meeting next week.
NORTHALLERTON
Next week’s meeting has changed to an active night. Take trainers and meet in the Applegarth car park at 7.15pm. Our twitter account has nearly 200 followers. Why not take a look @YFC_Nallerton?
REETH
This week’s meeting was beef and sheep judging by permission of the Weighell family. Results were as follows: 1 Marian Porter; 2 Stephen Dixon; 3 Katy Bainbridge. There isn’t a meeting next week, but there will be dairy judging on April 7 at 7.30pm, by permission of the Simpson family.
SEDGEFIELD
Last week, members had a great interclub with Stockton, a mock auction, which was very enjoyable. Next week’s meeting is completing rally entries at Hardwick Hall at 7.30pm.
STAINDROP
This week, members met at Winston Village Hall to discuss rally day entries. Many competitions were entered and we hope to have an exciting rally day. Next week’s meeting is a family quiz night. Members should meet at Winston Village Hall at 7.30pm.
STOCKTON
Our meeting this week was a practice mock auction ahead of the county competition. A big thank you to Graham Lawson for hosting and to David, Malcolm and Peter for judging. It was really good for everyone to have a go and get some practice and it was lovely to have Sedgefield YFC join us for the night. On Monday, it is rally prep. The venue is to be confirmed. Look our for the text and Facebook update. Call Caroline on 07533 783814 for more details. On Saturday, March 28, it is quiz night at the Wilson Centre, Long Newton, at 7.30pm. Teams can be up to a maximun of eight people. The cost is £6.50 per person to include a pie and peas supper, with a trophy to be won.
STOKESLEY
This week’s meeting was past versus present novelty judging, which past members won. We also presented the cheque to Teesside Hospice for £4077.52, which was raised during the year and at the anniversary ball. Monday’s meeting is our AGM at Mole Valley, starting at 7.30pm.
WENSLEYDALE
Our meeting on Monday night at Redmire was flower-arranging. A big thank you to Leonie Chapman for coming along and sharing her expertise with us. Our next meeting will be held at Mrs Maureen Orme’s, at Stalling Busk, on April 8, at 7.30pm for beef judging.
