Young Farmers' Club reports for Catterick, Elwick, Ingleby Cross, Northallerton, Reeth, Sedgefield, Stockton, Weardale and Wensleydale

CATTERICK

Last week’s meeting was rally entries night. Best of luck to everyone who is taking part. Next week’s meeting is a tour around Sam Turner’s at Northallerton. Meet there at 7.30pm or contact Elly Pearson, if you would like a lift from the Booth Hall. If you would like to enter the Club 200 draw, contact Alex Chapman for a chance to win £25 each month.

ELWICK

This week’s meeting was a visit to see the county pantomime of Goldilocks and the Three Cows. Elwick members made up part of the cast, so thank you to all members who came and supported the evening. Well done to the cast for putting on two really good performances. Next week’s meeting is a business meeting and rally entries. Meet at the WI Hall, Elwick, at 7.30pm. INGLEBY CROSS This week’s meeting was rally entries in the hall. If you would like to do anything else, other than what you have put your name down, let Emma know either next week or via text. Next week’s meeting is at Waddingtons Builders, in Brompton-on-Swale. Meet at the Cross at 7.50pm. Could members make the effort to come to next week’s meeting as the Yorkshire Young Farmers’ county chairman Adele Hamer is coming to visit us and it would be nice to have a good turnout. Could members who have put their names down for the Cledales 200 club pay £12 to Emma as soon as possible.

NORTHALLERTON

Thank you to everybody who came to the stock judging last week, and also thanks to the Bakers for having us. Next week’s meeting is a mystery meeting at the mart at 7.30pm. REETH

This week’s meeting was to fill in rally forms. Next week’s meeting is the AGM at 7.30pm at The Buck. Could members return trophies to Michael or Kate before then, and membership forms also need to be taken to this meeting, if not before.

SEDGEFIELD

Members had a great night watching the county pantomime, Sadie Spangle’s Circus. Good luck to the cast for the Northern Area Competition. Next week’s meeting is to be confirmed.

STOCKTON

This week’s meeting was pancake-making at The Wilson Centre, Long Newton. We had the efficiency judges in attendance and everyone enjoyed mixing the batter, making pancakes to eat and making green pancakes for our flipping competition, which Hannah Walton. On Monday, March 9, it is rally entries at 7.45pm at The Wilson Centre, Long Newton. If you would like to enter, try and attend, so that we can ensure all the entries are sorted. On Saturday, March 28, it is the club’s big quiz at The Wilson Centre at 7.30pm at 8pm first round, with a maximum of eight in a team. The cost is £6.50 per person to include a pie and peas supper. WEARDALE

WENSLEYDALE

Our next meeting will be held on Monday, March 9, at Horthorn Farm, by permission of John Dinsdale. This will be dairy judging, so a 7.30pm prompt start. We also have arranged a meeting for Monday, March 16, at Carperby Pavillion to discuss rally entries.
