DAIRY farmers will be able to find out more about "how to ignore problems and save money’" during a farm walk led by US dairy nutritionist Prof John Fetrow at Richmond on Wednesday , January 14.

Discussions will continue with the speakers over dinner and an evening conference at the Holiday Inn Scotch Corner which will focus on managing a successful dairy farming business while milk prices remain low.

Prof Fetrow will be joined by Debby Brown and Bryn Davies, Advanced Nutrition’s nutrition and hoof health specialists, and Crook based dairy farmer David Walker.

Mrs Brown said: "Prof Fetrow is one of the world’s leaders on solving bottlenecks commonly found on dairy farms. He will discuss how they pose a special class of problems and how farmers should approach them to achieve their goals. His ability to offer such advice will be particularly timely as we approach a new year of continuing low milk prices.”

The farm walk is at Rose Villa Farm, Wells Lane, Richmond, DL10 6LU, and starts at 12.30pm. Dinner with the speakers is at 5.30pm and the conference at 7pm. There may be a nominal charge for dinner but the walk and conference are free.
