A SERIES of free evening meetings are being held to explain how farmers can help barn owl populations.

Organised by the Campaign for the Farmed Environment (CFE) they include The Forresters Arms, Kilburn, on Wednesday (26) and The Three Horseshoes Inn, Running Waters, Durham, on Thursday (27th), both at 7pm. An overview of local barn owl populations and what they need to thrive will be given.

Fraser Hugill, CFE regional co-ordinator, said: “The aim of these events is to improve our understanding of barn owls. By understanding the needs of the barn owl we can then use the new CAP greening measures to encourage more barn owls onto our farms”.

Booking is essential as a light supper will be provided. Ring or text Sarah Maughan on 07432 562198 or email yorkshirenortheast@cfeonline.org.uk
