DAIRY farmers are invited to a series of free meetings hosted by Innovation for Agriculture (IFA) and Keenan about maximising yields over winter with a foragebased diet.

Charlotte Johnston, IFA livestock specialist, said: “Producers who want to maintain milk yields and milk quality over winter are encouraged to attend to hear from experts on measures that can be taken to ensure optimum performance from their herd. These are meetings which farmers cannot afford to miss.”

Speakers include Martin Kavanagh, a specialist in cattle consultancy with wide experience in dealing with disease and management issues. He will speak on better rumen function for better yields.

Thorkild Moos, Keenan technology director, will discuss feeding a healthy and consistent forage. Each meeting starts with a hot supper at 7pm.

They include the Shepherds Inn, Carlisle, on October 7; Allerton Court Hotel, Northallerton, on October 8; and Reaseheath College, Nantwich, on October 10.

They are free for those who register before noon on the day or £10 on the door. To book, contact Charlotte Johnston on 07779 572598.
