AN estate that has belonged to the same family since the mid-17th Century is on the market for offers of more than £3.75m.
The Cragg Estate. in Redesdale, Northumberland, comprises more than 1,000 acres, with pheasant shooting and salmon fishing.
Anthony Reed, the original owner, died in 1685, although an epitaph to a descendant, erected in 1758, describes the family as having lived in the area for 900 years.
The estate is a mixture of in-hand and tenanted farmland with Broadgate, the principal house, and six estate houses. The land is a mix of pasture, grazings and woods.
Claire Whitfield, of Strutt & Parker’s Morpeth office, said: “The main house itself is an exceptional family home and, combined with the sporting opportunities available, I predict a great deal of interest in The Cragg Estate.”
