TWO determined telephone bidders pushed the price of a cast 5ft Case dealers eagle statue to a record-breaking £13,000, at Cheffins on-site auction sale on behalf of the late Bill Etherington at Fishburn, Cleveland, on Saturday, June 14.

Bill was a regular at Cheffins Vintage auctions for more than 20 years and had purchased the Case Eagle a few years ago at a Cambridge Vintage Sale.

Little did he know the eagle would prove to be the star lot at his sale.

The sale attracted a huge crowd of buyers.

The sale included more than 20 vintage and classic tractors including two very sought-after David Brown Thresherman tractors, which made £7,800 and £10,000, a Turner Yeoman of England, which was knocked down at £8,800 and a German-built Schluter tractor, which was bought by an online bidder for £8,200.

A Marshall model M, which was included from a local collection, achieved a respectable £15,000. The part-restored Austin Champ made £3,000 and an early Mercedes Benz Unimog with snow blower attachment made £5,200.
