ONE of the biggest machinery shows in the region has been giving farmers an insight into the developments in technology, which can help them thrive.
JG Paxton & Sons Ltd, which operates dealerships at Pity Me, Northallerton, Alnwick and Bentham, took over Sedgefield Racecourse for two days to offer existing and prospective clients a larger display than ever before.
A steady stream of visitors made the most of the biennial show that featured a vast array of machinery designed to boost efficiency in farming.
The premier show offered the opportunity to get a close look at the latest agricultural equipment, with expert help on hand to lead visitors through technical features – anything from satellite tracking to combat thieves to advanced technology associated with Formula 1 motorsport.
Sales manager Will Paxton said: “We had a lot of genuine interest from customers who are researching the best machinery for their specific needs.
“The latest equipment represents a significant investment and farmers need to know they are spending wisely, which is why the show is so useful as we have a range of experts on hand to advise them.”
Displays featured machinery ranging from a few hundred pounds to largescale equipment valued at £480,000.
On show were the latest offerings from the world’s top manufacturers, including Case IH, JCB, Lely, Kuhn, Ifor Williams, Richard Larrington, Marshall Trailers, Lynx Engineering, Twose, Teagle, Spread-abale, Mzuri, Horsch, Spearhead, Fleming and FarmGem.
As well as every conceivable type of machine for farmers working small grasslands to multi-thousandacre arable farms, there was also a display of good-quality second-hand stock to cater for a variety of budgets.
Visitors heard about the latest microchip tracking technology to catch thieves and protect and recover equipment.
