Exemptions renewal due
12:58pm Friday 20th September 2013 in Farming
FARMERS should make sure they have renewed their Agricultural Waste Exemptions before the September 30 deadline warns Charles Raine from the Hexham office of YoungsRPS.
Failure to do so could mean prosecution as it is a criminal offence to carry out on farm waste disposal activities such as the treatment and disposal of sheep dip, burning hedge cuttings and using construction rubble for foundations and farm tracks without the correct registered exemptions.
“Most farmers will have received a letter from the Environment Agency over the summer, warning them that their exemptions are due to expire, but may not have acted on it,”
said Mr Raine.
“We have already helped a number of clients who have found themselves in this situation, unsure what exemptions to apply for and how to complete the online process to obtain the relevant permits.
“The most important thing is to act in time, and anyone needing advice should get in touch as soon as possible.”
