A FAMILY-RUN North Yorkshire animal feed manufacturer has won two national awards.
WE Jameson & Son, of Masham, who are also agricultural merchants and country store operators, was honoured at the National Dairy Industry Awards 2013.
The company scooped the award for Regional Feed Merchant of the Year and Ruth Lawson, company nutritionist, was named UK Dairy Nutritionist of the Year.
The awards were split into two – a National Award and a Regional Award.
Graham Jameson, managing director, said: “When we heard we had been shortlisted with some much larger regional feed manufacturers we were delighted, but to come away with a win is beyond our expectations. The winning of this award is testament to Jamesons core values, a high level of customer service and product quality.”
The judges citation said: “This small family business caught the judges’ eyes, namely because of its dedication to its customers. The judges felt that the entry demonstrated the company was working hard to tackle issues, such as health and fertility, and working with its dairy producer clients to come up with effective solutions.”
Nutritionist Dr Lawson, who put together the winning bid, said: “Many of our customers were good enough to provide testimonials acknowledging the high level of service provided by us, and we would like to thank them.”
The Nutritionist of the Year category was hotly contested by company nutritionists and independent consultants.
Mr Jameson said: “I am delighted for Ruth, she has worked incredibly hard in her first year at Jamesons. Her attention to detail and focus on customer requirements for high levels of livestock productivity have paid off, and I hope she feels this award is an acknowledgement of that hard work.”
The judges said: “Ruth demonstrates several examples of delivering improved performance and profitability on farm. She has a sound, broad nutritional background and applies this knowledge successfully in the development of new products. She’s also customer focused and her entry illustrated outstanding evidence of effective knowledge transfer in dairy nutrition.”
Dr Lawson is central to the production of a monthly newsletter which Jamesons send to all its customers, containing up nutritional, fertiliser and seed advice.
