Board Deafeat
A BID to stop the Agricultural Wages Board from being scrapped has been defeated in the House of Lords.
The board sets the minimum wage and other terms and conditions of employmentfor agricultural workers, but the Government says itis outdatedand hampers the ability of the industry to offer more flexible, modern employment packages.
Wednesday’s debate saw Peers back the Government’s plans by 192 votes to 163.
Farm seminars
FARMERS and landowners are invited to join experts from Savills at two seminars.
Topics covered will include agribusiness, prospects for the farmland market, effective estate management and renewable energy opportunities.
