NORTH-East bred Beef Shorthorn bulls were in the money at the society’s official sale at Stirling on Tuesday where entries met a solid trade and peaked at 8,500gns.
Erasmus II of Upsall, a 22- month-old dark roan bull by Atilla of Upsall, and out of a home-bred dam, made 6,000gns for breeder Gerald Turton, Thirsk. He was bought by A J Hunter, Shetland.
Lowther Eclipse, a two-yearold roan bull from Charles Lowther, Penrith, sold for 5,000gns to T C Brown, Towcester, Northamptonshire.
Eclipse was sired by Blelack Rupert and out of LS Special K.
The 8,500gns top price was made by Burnside Elite from W and J McAllister, Ballymena. A 21-month-old roan bull by Creaga Dice and out of a home-bred dam, was secured by Messrs Thomson, Roddick and Laurie of Lockerbie.
They also paid 6,000gns for Highlee Eric, a 22-month-old roan bull by Astrix of Upsall and out of Croxtonpark Lily, bred by T Severn, Halifax.
Page Farms Partners, Bedale, paid 6,000gns to N Massie & Son, Aberdeenshire, for Blelack Fortune Maker, a 20- month-old roan bull sired by Alta Cedar Samurai and out of Butterfield Forester.
W S Robson, Newcastle, paid 8,000gns for the pre-sale overall champion Chapelton Exemplar, a 22-month-old roan bull bred by D J Biggar, Kirkcudbrightshire. He was by Chapelton Typhoon and out of a home-bred dam.
R James, Fadmoor, paid 4,000gns for Meonhill Emperor a 22-month-old roan bull bred by LEP Farms, Hampshire. He is by Meonhill Highland Beau and out of a homebred dam.
