BEST PRACTICE: Removing soil compaction by sward lifting will be one of the topics discussed at the “Bottom Up Grass Production” event in Leyburn
LIVESTOCK farmers can learn how to get more out of their grassland through best practice soil and sward management at an event in Leyburn next month.
The Grassright Group holds the meeting at Leyburn Auction Mart on Thursday, February 21, at 7pm.
Entitled “Bottom Up Grass Production” it will feature speakers from Opico, GrowHow and Limagrain UK.
They will cover the benefits of removing soil compaction to improve soil structure, ensuring optimal use of nutrients from all sources to benefit grass growth, and the factors to consider when selecting an appropriate grass seed mixture.
The event is hosted by local Opico machinery dealer Russell Group Agriculture and includes supper.
Farmers wishing to attend are asked to register with Tom Fawcett of Russells on 07779 793039 or email tfawcett@russells.uk.com.
