A NEWTON Aycliffe-based kitchen supplier has won a gold award for product innovation for its Convoy larder system at the 2012 Designer Magazine Awards.

John Lennon, sales and marketing director at PWS, a fifth generation family business, accepted the accolade from industryrenowned designer Oliver Heath, at the awards ceremony at the Tower of London.

PWS is well known for its quality kitchen brands Second Nature and Metris, which are sold locally and nationally through independent kitchen retailers.

As well as supplying kitchens, storage solutions and other kitchen accessories, PWS manufactures granite, quartz, timber and solid surface from its new factory which was commissioned in 2009.

Mr Lennon said: “Convoy has taken the concept of larder storage to the next level with many practical and ergonomic benefits for the user.

“As with all our products, we are continually researching the market to develop and introduce new collections to offer our customers and the end-consumer with design-led, quality kitchens with lasting appeal. We are committed to quality, innovation and service and are looking forward to enhancing our product portfolio in the New Year.”

It was a double celebration for Newton Aycliffe with Roman Showers also picking up a Designer Magazine award for marketing.
