Sir, – I suspect the search for gardens and allotments reported in the D&S Times is the tip of a worrying iceberg.
Considering this Government has classified our gardens as brownfield and has just given a quango more say than elected representatives, it’s no wonder that, in town, green areas are shrinking.
It’s more worrying in the Stockton area because they’re conducting one of their divisive surveys under the umbrella of making our green areas better.
I hope I’m wrong.
The trouble is, town green areas – nature parks and so on – do not have an official protector at local or national level.
