Sir, - I would like to apologise to any neighbours who were unduly disturbed by the noise of the dance party that was held at Lenthor Farm on the bank holiday weekend.
This was a one-off private party and not directly related to the regular stone circle camping weekends and other events held here.
In response to Mr Carter's comments re the police (D&S letters, May 9), I did inform them that a dance party was taking place and that there was a camp here as well.
Regarding the noise factor on the Friday evening; at a distance of 700m north of the dance party I could not hear any noise.
I can only assume that the wind had carried the sound in a westerly direction towards Mr Carter's and Brompton village.
On Saturday evening when I checked the noise levels, they were approx 69dB 50m away from the dance tent and no-one who was camping commented on the noise levels.
I have spoken to a number of neighbouring people and no one said the noise was excessive.
If Mr Carter had contacted me about the noise levels at the time I would have addressed the problem but once again I learn of his concerns via the letters column of the D&S.
The stone circle is a place of peace and harmony and in view of this I would like to reassure my neighbours that the dance party was a one-off and I will not be holding any future events featuring all-night DJs playing electronic dance music with repetitive beats that compromise the peace and harmony of the stone circle and all that it represents.
