I WOULD like to endorse Noel Ashworth’s remarks (D&S Times, Apr 21) concerning Abbey Care Home in Scorton, which was recently criticised by a Care Quality Commission inspection (D&S Times, Apr 14).
My wife, who is now in the later stages of dementia and cannot walk, feed herself or speak coherently, has been a resident – first in Bower and then in Archery suites – for the last seven years.
I appreciate that, like other care homes, it is difficult for management to find and retain staff since their work is very onerous. However, in my experience over this period of time I have found the home to be spotlessly clean and the care staff friendly and willing to go out of their way to see to the well-being of their charges.
