THE “white elephant” car park proposed outside Bedale will prove very expensive and will not be used by those wishing to visit the town.
Visitors will not walk half-a-mile to and from the shops.
So, please do not waste £1.6m on it.
There is a cheaper alternative.
The car park between Barclays Bank and Bedale Hall in the High Street should be available to residents and visitors only and those who park there regularly should be found alternative parking by extending the existing parking area outside Bedale Hall.
This would involve little cost and would improve the number of parking places in the High Street.
Gerald Bunting, Crakehall, Bedale
