WITH reference to the article headlined "Councillor calls for apology after MP's 'racist' accusation” (D&S Times, Feb 10), what are we to make of the paragraph: "G4S was planning to move asylum seekers to the town (Loftus) but following concerns about isolation and a lack of facilities in the area, the decision was reversed."

What about the existing residents who are equally isolated and unable to access facilities once taken for granted in a town the size of Loftus?

Well, to start with they’ll get an increase in council tax and the few facilities they have will be under greater pressure when the new housing development is completed.

I suspect that it was easier for G4S to change its decision than it will be for some people to change their attitude.
