YOUR article highlighted the case of former Northallerton GP Dr Derek Keilloh (D&S Times, Feb 10).

This popular doctor had his career ruined because of events in Iraq on evidence produced by the now disgraced solicitor Philip Shiner, himself now struck off from his professional body for paying for false evidence among other wrongdoings.

I was one of the 3,500 original signatories to the campaign conducted by Dr Keilloh’s parents-in-law as I felt sure at the time that a grave injustice had been done.

In the light of the new circumstances, the General Medical Council should reinstate the doctor without delay or equivocation.
