TRAFFIC problems for workers coming into Darlington on the A68 and the A167 in the morning are causing severe hardship. Pollution is being generated near people’s homes as cars idle in queues.

Surely we can increase the number of access points to the A1 by having slip roads at the end of Staindrop Road onto the motorway and also at Merrybent where the A68 crosses the A1.

There are simply insufficient access points onto the A1 now to provide for Darlington’s traffic needs. The council must approach central government.
