HAMBLETON DISTRICT COUNCIL is consulting the public on planning options up until 2035. The consultation process continues until December 12 and the Preferred Options documents are in all the public libraries with leaflets on how to comment online.

The council staff have spent a lot of time writing these documents after ongoing consultations with interested parties, so please give reasons for your comments. Do remember new houses are needed across the country. They are considering issues such as sustainability, flooding, community hubs, transport including cycling and walking, social housing and people’s health.

Since 2000, many policy documents have used the word “sustainability” which encompasses environment, social and economic considerations. Planning officers, landowners and developers all need to implement this sustainability. It is up to us as residents to keep them on the right track. Now is the time to make our voice heard across Hambleton.

Further, would any group in Aiskew use a sustainably built village hall as we have no suitable meeting place since we lost the Methodist Chapel hall last year? Please contact me with your group details, numbers and how often you meet, via kendorainaiskew@hotmail.com.
