I WRITE to correct a misplaced comment recorded in your columns that the High Street in Great Ayton is dying.
Far from dying, the High Street is a vibrant much visited shopping experience.
With wonderful butchers offering award winning pies, colourful gift shops, tasty ice cream, a high-tech bicycle shop and the magnificent Captain Cook Schoolroom Museum it is very much alive.
The High Street has a wide choice of delicious refreshment with many cafes and restaurants.
I also think it happens to have the best fish and chips in North Yorkshire.
This week the village Business Forum will be organising a Christmas fair.
There will be stalls, refreshments and music and, to my mind, this shows a dynamic business community at work.
Dead? No way!
