THE FA is once again looking for a new manager for the Three Lions, with former Boro boss Gareth Southgate the favourite to get the job.

His four game stint in charge seems to have appealed to the men in charge, with emphatic victories against Malta and Scotland, a draw against the mighty Slovenians and another draw against the bull chasing Spaniards in a game that we should have won at Wembley.

I don’t think that he’s the right man to take us forward, and it’s a shame what happened to Sam Allardyce, but there should be someone out there who could do a decent job for us and take us beyond the group stages in competitions.

While former players, and some parts of the media, want Gareth Southgate to get the job, I hope that the FA sees sense and gives the role to the popular Darlington-based pub landlord Frank Bowman, as he for one would drop Rooney and bring back Happy Hour to a country that is calling out for something to cheer.
