I REFER to the article “Remembrance parade concerns” (D&S Times, October 14) concerning Cleveland Police’s indication that they do not have the resources to oversee the Guisborough parade in the manner of previous years.
Just who do the Chief Constable and Police and Crime Commissioner think they are fooling?
Their lame pleading that the police have insufficient resources to cover this parade is pathetic and insulting.
To cite a lack of resources to police the parade is shocking.
Have the cuts imposed by the Home Office really left Cleveland Police so badly off? We should be told.
If this were a parade in celebration of some pressure or minority group there would be, in my opinion, no hesitation in policing it just in case someone’s sensibilities were offended.
The lives that this parade honours deserves better than this.
Timothy Wood, Guisborough
