WE are being told over and over again that invoking Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty is the only way to go when considering leaving the EU.

This allows up to two years to negotiate our withdrawal. It also allows for an extension to the process if our government and the other 27 nation states agree, so it could realistically take us beyond 2019 and the next general election, which would allow a new government to overturn the referendum result.

There is, though, another way which gives our sovereign Parliament control of the withdrawal and not Euro bureaucrats.

We could repeal the 1972 European Communities Act which would make the Treaty of Lisbon void in law and put the British constitution at the forefront of negotiations.

From the moment we repeal the Act, we will no longer be part of the Union of Europe and the supremacy of our national law will be restored.

The Government could implement immediate controls over free movement of people. It would be up to us the people as to who can come into the country and for what purpose.

We could unilaterally stop paying the EU enormous sums of money each week.

We could approach the World Trade Organisation and take our own seat there, not be part of a massive bloc within the EU with really no voice as to trade deals. We would look after ourselves on world trade.

We could befriend countries within the Commonwealth which we have increasingly ignored while being in the EU.

So, come on, Parliament, do your duty and repeal the 1972 European Communities Act and let us get on with trading with the world and with EU member states.

Let us re-build this great nation.

Let us move forward under our own management care and control to a great, bright, prosperous and fulfilled future.
