YOUR front page report (D&S, Aug 16) “Strategy change helping council battle potholes” refers to the poor conditions of rural roads in kilometres as does your editorial.

Every road sign in this country is measured and stated in miles, as indeed is the 2017 edition of a road map for drivers which I bought last week.

Please forget the councilcum-civil-servant speak in future. Or if you must mention kilometres, put them in brackets. The council only does it to show off, because thousands of kilometres sounds more important than hundreds of miles!
