MANY readers will be familiar with the very popular Sheepwash moorland picnic spot/walking base, near Osmotherly.
Earlier this week, I was sad to see the arrival of traffic wardens intent on issuing penalty notices to the large number of cars parked on the roadside verges.
The problem is that the limited car parking provision is completely inadequate to cope with the sometimes large number of visitors in the summer.
I think is unfair of the local authority to put in place parking restrictions. Increasing car parking provision would spoil the moorland scene.
The minor road in question is mainly used by visitors and occasional overflow roadside parking does not cause any real danger or significant congestion.
I think the responsible local authority should consider withdrawing the parking restrictions and stop unfairly penalising the many families who visit Sheepwash.
