I READ with interest the article about the police and crime commissioner Julia Mulligan wanting a ‘deputy’ at a cost of approximately £5,000 per annum.

The role it says requires the candidate to hear, understand and engage with members of the public.

May I suggest that when she finds such a person, Ms Mulligan retires from the job as she is incapable of those actions herself.

Six times I have put in Freedom Of Information requests with never a reply coming my way.

Between April 2012 and June 2015, North Yorkshire Police’s Civil Disclosure Unit failed to determine 1,558 freedom of information requests within the statutory 20 working day period.

In my view Ms Mulligan is not fit for this important role and what value will a ‘deputy’ add to this lack of transparency?

She is, after all, first and foremost a politician - and we know how that usually goes.
