THERE is a straight-forward way in which Brexit can be achieved quickly, and to the satisfaction of Northern Ireland and Scotland, which voted “Remain.”

If England and Wales, which voted “Leave,” withdrew from the UK then the remaining UK countries would be Northern Ireland and Scotland. Thus, with Northern Ireland and Scotland in the UK, there would be no need for them to negotiate anything with the EU, as the UK was remaining in the EU.

As the result of leaving the UK, England and Wales would not have to initiate Article 50 as they would no longer be part of the UK.

This solution satisfies all four current UK countries.

As regards the single market, the EU trades more with us than we trade with it.

Therefore, it is the EU which will, surely, be pleading to trade with us.
