THIS is the first time I have ever written a letter to a newspaper, but I was quite upset to read about the possible demise of the intersite bus between the Friarage and James Cook (D&S Times, Apr 8 & 15).
I am in my 82nd year and would be most reluctant to drive anywhere near Middlesbrough, whereas I am accustomed to driving to Northallerton, and have happily used the bus on several visits to James Cook in the past year.
The service has been used by staff, patients and visitors and, to my mind, is a most useful thing for the Care Commissioning Group to have initiated.
Yes, I could get a friend to drive me to James Cook, but the car park is both expensive and difficult to find room in.
I’m also upset by the fact that your news item gives no link to the petition, which is the subject of the item. Why ever not? It would be most useful.
